Dead Rising 4 Is A Timed Exclusive For Xbox One and Windows 10
-----------After the announcement that the game will be coming to Xbox One and Windows 10, Dead Rising 4 has now been confirmed by Microsoft as a timed exclusive on the platforms.
During Microsoft's press conference, it was officially revealed that Dead Rising 4 will feature the returning lead character Frank West as he heads back to his home town. The announcement trailer of Dead Rising 4 also put emphasis on the game's holiday setting, which lets players take on zombies in a shopping mall during Christmas time. Included available weapons are the candy cane-firing crossbows, minigun, and a jeep that launches zombies.
Despite the game being announced for Xbox One and Windows 10, Microsoft's reveal that Dead Rising 4 is a timed exclusive suggests it may arrive to non-Microsoft platforms in the future. The company explained in a statement that development of Dead Rising 4 is handled by Capcom and will be published in partnership with Microsoft. Xbox One and Windows 10 PC users will get to play the game first this December 10.
Microsoft added to that statement, saying it will remain a Windows 10 exclusive for the first 90 days and console exclusive for one year, and that they are also thrilled by the partnership with Dead Rising 4's developer Capcom to bring the company's ambitious vision to life. What this essentially means is that the zombie slaying title could potentially arrive to Steam and be released on PlayStation 4 when holidays start.
Although a small amount of players may hold out for the PS4 or non-Windows 10 version of the game, the million selling success of Rise of the Tomb Raider has showed that timed exclusivity doesn't mean the game's sales will be affected. Dead Rising 4 may receive a huge income of potential players at the end of this year, considering the fact that Xbox One S is launching this August.
Dead Rising 4 arrives on December 6 for PC and Xbox One.
