Capcom Announces The Disney Afternoon Collection

-----------
.....

Make your childhood dreams come to life with The Disney Afternoon Collection, a compilation of NES games based on beloved Disney animated television shows.

Those who are fans of the old Capcom and Disney collaborations back on the original NES are probably freaking out right now. Capcom has just announced The Disney Afternoon Collection via a very appropriately designed retro style trailer. Inside are six classic games that have been upgraded with new features and a sharper look. This nostalgic awesomeness will release this Spring on April 18, 2017.

The Disney Afternoon Collection includes Darkwing Duck, DuckTales, DuckTales 2, TaleSpin, Chip 'n Dale, and Chip 'n Dale 2. There's an all new Boss Rush Mode, that seems to be the standard routine of fighting the game's bosses in sequential order, a Time Attack Mode, and a new Rewind feature that allow players a do-ver, something like the time control mechanics seen in Prince of Persia.

In addition, there's a Museum Mode that will give players a behind the scenes look at each of the game's development through early storyboards and concept art. Finally, every 8bit game in the collection will be running in full 1080p to match the current standard of high definition 8bit seen in games like Shovel Knight.

Even though the collection is set to release on most standard platforms, it won't be available for Nintendo's recently released, well-reviewed console, the Switch. There's currently no word on whether Capcom has plans to do so in the future.

Disney Afternoons was a block of original animated shows in the 90s that a generation of kids were lucky to have dominating their weekday afternoons. While this collection is undoubtedly targeted at the old school crowd out there, a working knowledge of the shows isn't necessary to enjoy the games they inspired.

The Disney Afternoon Collection launches on April 18, 2017 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Steam.
