Brooklyn Won't Be Available With The Division Launch
-----------However it might be available via DLC.
Ubisoft has revealed that even though it previously showcased sections of Brooklyn, the game won't include the zone at launch. The reason behind this is Ubisoft focusing exclusively on Midtown Manhattan for the game's release, which has a story-based reason behind this decision.
"For Tom Clancy's The Division we are going with Midtown Manhattan," creative director Magnus Jansen told The Examiner. "It is because of the 1-to-1 recreation and the way the pandemic has [happened]. Basically, everything has been hit and there are no more resources because everyone tried to get out. There is no more gasoline in the cars, there is no traffic, you're on foot."
Jansen went on to say that Midtown Manhattan itself will offer a "huge open world" and it should make up "more than enough to sink your teeth into." Jansen added that players can look forward to a deep level of detail and density in the main Midtown Manhattan map.
The Division's closed beta begins January 28 on Xbox One for people who preordered the game. PS4 and PC players can join in on January 29. With the game launching on March 8 across Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
