Blizzard Says It "Can't Just Keep Adding Cards Forever"

-----------
.....

"It's our intention to make sure the game is supported and does well for many years to come."

With Hearthstone being quite popular, Blizzard has revealed that it doesn't know how to move forward with the game. Speaking to GamesMaster, director Eric Dodds said that adding cards seems like a good solution, but they can't keep adding cards forever.

"I want Hearthstone to be played over a long period of time – certainly over many years," he explains. The trouble is working out how to do that. "There are a lot of questions that we’re talking about internally that need to be answered," says Dodds. New expansions and cards might seem like an obvious way forward to most of us, but Blizzard isn't so sure: "One of those issues does surround the adding of new cards, because we know we can’t just keep adding cards forever. It’s important to figure out solutions to that kind of thing".

Ultimately, the goal is to "maintain the long-term health of the game," but Eric admits that the teams are "not ready to pitch a solution yet." Before Blizzard can do that there are, "a lot of things to figure out". Whatever the solution ends up being, the team want to make sure they "hit the exact right answer" before they announce anything. Dodds concludes though, that "it’s our intention to make sure the game is supported and does well for many years to come."
