Beyond Good and Evil 2 is Officially Getting Developed

Ubisoft has officially confirmed that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is getting developed, and revealed which studio Michel Ancel works with to develop it.

The last decade was a pain in the neck for fans of Beyond Good and Evil. The sequel, Beyond Good and Evil 2 went through a lot of stops and goes and yet there has been very little information about the game in the years since its announcement. However, last week there was a change of pace, with series creator Michel Ancel teasing that the sequel is in development with posts on his Instagram account. Ubisoft has confirmed Beyond Good and Evil 2 and revealed that the studio Ancel is working with to develop the game.

When it comes to the development of Beyond Good and Evil 2, Michel Ancel is cooperating with a studio he knows a lot about. The team at Ubisoft Motpellier, that worked on Rayman Origins and Legends with Ancel, will help him realize his vision for the lost gestating sequel. Further details are not available at the moment.

A number of theories and rumors that surround Beyond Good and Evil 2 exist and they are about Ancel and Ubisoft and their need to address in the upcoming months. First of all, based on the first piece of concept art that Ancel revealed on his Instagram account, many theorized that it will be a prequel of the original, not a sequel. The concept art appears to depict a young Pey'j - Jade's anthropomorphic pig-uncle on the shoulder of a man that supposedly is Jade's father, teasing that the new game will explore Pey'j's origins.

There is a possibility that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is an NX exclusive, and with Nintendo expected to reveal their new console one of these days, fans will find out soon, one way or another. Meanwhile, it would be nice if Ancel and Ubisoft explained how exactly development on Beyond Good and Evil 2 is being handled, considering both Ancel and Ubisoft Motpellier are busy on other projects.

Before Beyond Good and Evil 2's announcement, Ancel was working hard on the ambitious open world game Wild. Ubisoft Montpellier however, were assisting Ubisoft Paris in the development of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands, the company's biggest game in 2017. There is a possibility that this split in attention will cause Beyond Good and Evil 2 to develop for a longer, but for fans sake, that will hopefully not be the case.
