Activision on CoD's Three Year Cycle
-----------Activision says that Call od Duty's three year development cycle encourages innovation.
Call of Duty is strengthened by the "freedom to fail," says Activision.
"That extra year of development time, particularly with the new consoles and the more powerful hardware, has really paid off thus far to iterate, innovate and try new things," said Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg. "To find out which things didn't work and have the freedom to fail in the creative process, so what goes on the disc is the best ideas."
Earlier this year it was revealed that Sledgehammer Games would be developing this year's Call of Duty game. Previously Call of Duty development was going back and forth between Treyarch and Infinity Ward. Introducing the third studio means that the series can maintain its annual output while giving its developers more time to work on each title.
Sledgehammer's Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will launch come November 4.
